TIPS FOR SMOOTHLY TRANSITIONING YOUR CHILD TO ONLINE SCHOOL

Are you a parent who is preparing your child for the transition from a traditional brick-and-mortar school to an online learning environment with CMASAS? When embarking on any new experience, it can be both exciting and challenging at the same time. Remember, your student’s PEC is an ambassador, mentor, coach and friend to help your student navigate and build the essential skills to be successful. And, your involvement is key in creating another layer of support and encouragement to guide them along the way.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PARENT INVOLVEMENT IN ONLINE LEARNING

Attending a brick-and-mortar school doesn’t work for everyone. The students at CMASAS come for a myriad of reasons; many looking for a more flexible and personalized experience. With online learning, students are in the driver seat to manage their schedule, deadlines, and overall success in meeting their academic and personal goals. This autonomy comes with significant responsibility. While each CMASAS student gets a Personalized Education Coach (PEC) to help them with these things, another key factor that can greatly influence a child's success is parent involvement.

A COURSE INSTRUCTOR'S PERSPECTIVE

There are many things I love about being a language arts course instructor at CMASAS. I have the luxury of one-on-one support which means more opportunities to truly know my students. I can target my teaching to where they need it most. And because each student needs something different from me, I can’t grow complacent. I must be a constant learner to support CMASAS learners. I must adapt and grow myself just as I expect them to. All these things are a delight to me and are deeply embedded in a student-centered model like ours.
