CMASAS Clubs

Explore Our Various Clubs

We have a variety of clubs for students to join. Clubs meet in Microsoft Teams. This is a great opportunity for students to explore interests and passions and get to know their peers. Below is a chart of the clubs we offer, along with a description of the club. If you think a club should be added to the list, talk to your PEC.

Animal Exploration Club 6-12

Did you know that sea otters hold hands when they sleep to keep from drifting apart and that butterflies taste with their feet? If you love animals and would like to learn more about them, then this club is for you! Some of the topics we will cover are jobs associated with animals, animal habitats, what animal do you most relate to and why, unusual & exotic animals, we will bring our pets to share and so much more!

Anime/Manga Club

Whether you like just anime, just manga, or both, this is super great club for you! If you don't know either one, come join us and explore the worlds of anime and manga. This club is designed to spark disucussions and games/activities will be planned each week. We also watch various anime shows together from time to time. Anyone with a love of these topics or anyone looking to get into these topics is welcome.

Art Club

Welcome to Art Club! Any high school student is welcomed to join. We will be meeting twice a month to learn about art and to highlight student artwork. During the first meeting of the month, a student led presentation of a famous person or favorite artist will be shown with a discussion to follow about content/context, techniques, and overall impact on the community. For the second meeting of the month student art will be shared and given peer review.

Book Club

At each meeting, we discuss the book we read for the previous month & pre-read the upcoming month’s book. We also discuss what we are currently reading for fun & random book/author topics. In between meetings, we will use the Teams chat and/or Goodreads to discuss what we are reading & recommend books to each other.

Book Club 5-8

Book Club welcomes any students in grades 5-8 are welcome to read and join in lively discussions. We will create a monthly suggested reading brochure for all CMASAS students. In addition, we will explore all genres of written works of literature and discuss the purpose of the works.

Chess Club

Welcome to Chess Club! If you are interested in playing chess with fellow CMASAS students or improving your game, this is the club for you! Each club meeting members will play against each other in various time formats. Occasional tournaments for members to participate in will also be set up. Our club will also involve some chess trivia games and videos on the history of chess (looking at some of the best grand masters) and helpful chess analysis videos!

College Bound

This club is for all high school students who are interested in going to college after high school. We meet once a month to cover a variety of topics related to applying to college, preparing for college, meeting all requirements to apply to college, scholarships, and more. I present/cover topics, but also students are highly encouraged to send topics they would like to have covered and/or bring questions to ask each month. Your parents are welcome to attend meetings with you, as well.

Cooking & Crafting

Is cooking & crafting your jam? If so, come create with us! Activities will include things such as cooking, baking, recipe swaps, talking about how food fuels our body, learning about foods from other parts of the world and cultural practices. We will also dive into the world of crafting with activities such as slime, origami, knitting and sewing projects and learning the science behind these crafts such as why borax acts as a chemical bond in slime. The sky is the limit in this club.

Cooking Club

Do you love cooking? Let's learn more about cooking together. Plan on doing activities like recipe swaps, recipe creations, exploring how food fuels our bodies, exploring food from other cultures, and more! This will be a space where you can express your creativity through cooking.

Creative Writing Club

Creative Writing Club is a student-led, collaborative club where we welcome all members' ideas/suggestions. Within Creative Writing Club, we will practice using different writing prompts while also discussing some of the inspiration that feeds our creativity. At the end of the year, we will carry out a group project and reflect on our favorite stories and what we have created together!

Cultural Exploration Club

The Cultural Exploration Club will explore world events, share traditional games and activities, and engage in celebrations within different cultures around the world. Each meeting will have a predetermined culture to explore, and you will get to help pick the culture we explore! In addition, we will have a virtual component where students "visit" different regions to witness the culture "first-hand".

Debate Club

Debate Club is a safe, moderated environment for students to practice our debating skills and learn about formal methods of debate. We will learn and apply argumentative skills and use appeals to logic and morals to establish convincing arguments. Members will also get the opportunity to practice their public-speaking skills and build their eloquence. Topics will be chosen by the participants to hold engaging and though-provoking discussions.

Disney Club

If you are a Disney fan, this club is for you! This club will give students the opportunity to connect with others who have a passion for everything Disney and will be a great way to make new friends. We will discuss our favorite movies, favorite characters, hideen secrets in the park/movies and more! There will even be some Disney trivia games.

Fitness Club

Do you want to start your week off with more energy? Joins us for Fitness Club every Tuesday! We will do all things fitness and movement together. We will learn and participate in traditional fitness activities together like running, stretching, yoga, jump rope and more! We will add in some fun things like juggling and scavenger hunts to get us moving. Come join us and share your favorite type of fitness!

Gender-Sexuality Alliance

This is a student lead club, so while I am at meetings to make sure all is well, this is 100% a student space. We discuss LGBTQ+ topics and provide a safe place for our members to just be themselves. We welcome all students, those who are members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as their allies. You are always encouraged to recommend club topics or items to discuss.

Homework Club

Homework Help Club

The Homework Help Club is a club that is dedicated to helping CMASAS students with their class work/homework assignments, as well as helping peers study and grasp new concepts. A separate discord server has been made for students who have discord who want to study in groups, ask questions, and help other students with questions they might have.

Minecraft Club

Welcome to the Minecraft Club! All students are wecome to join in the fun of building in Minecraft in this club. We'll talk all things Minecraft, have build challenges, share survival tips, and be adventurous. Students are encouraged to create their own worlds and share them with other club members. We will use Minecraft: Education Edition during our meetings.

Music Club K-5

Music Club is for K-5 students who love music! Maybe you play an instrument or maybe you just love listening and dancing! If you want to learn more about music or share with others what you know about music, then join Music Club! Different topics will be covered such as world music, music theory, and history of music. Students will also get to share what they've been working on.

Mythology Club

The objective of this club is to explore different mythologies from around the world. We’ll learn about which gods and goddesses were worshipped in various parts of the world, why they were important, and their ties to modern popular media. We’ll also review the fundamental parts of each myth including creation myths, explanation myths, and popular legends.

National Honor Society

National Honor Society

National Honor Society is a nationally recognized student leader organization. We have a set of bylaws we are required to to keep up to date and adhere to keep our membership. Furthermore, we must pay NHS "chapter dues" each year. Also, all student members pay yearly dues, must perform a certain amount of hours every year. Members must follow a strict set of guidelines in an application process to become members. We meet monthly from August through May of each school year.

Photography Club

Welcome to the Photography Club. Any middle or high school student is welcome to join. We’ll learn about photography techniques, share our photos, and then create a final gallery of our work. Each month we'll have a featured photography challenge. In the past these challenges have included "Abstract Ideas", "Something Spooky" and "My Happy Place." During each meeting we'll share our challenge photos and support each other's unique artistic growth.

Poetry Club

Poetry Club will be open to students in grades 8-12. We will explore both the poetry of famous poets throughout history past and present as well as write and perform our own poetry. We will delve into spoken word poetry and aim to present at a school assmbly in the spring. Poetry Club will focus on poetry appreciation, writing and performing.

Pop Culture Club

Students will explore popular pop culture through music, movies, games and events. Each meeting will have a predetermined poplular culture theme to explore, voted on by the students. Some possibilities are Tesla, Roblox, Grogu, Stranger Things, etc. The Pop Culture Club's aim is to provide increased diversity awareness of the influence of pop culture on our yourh and society as a whole.

RISE Club

The goal of the RISE (Reach Inspire Share Evaluate) club is to provide a safe space where to connect with like-minded individuals and work together and personally to be the best version of yourself. Twice a month the club will meet to discuss topics like productivity, organization, focus, personal relationships, and more self-development topics.  The club activities will include things like reviewing relevant books, podcasts, movies, and ted talks.

Romance Language Club

The Romance Languages club will focus on one Romance language each month. The first meeting of the month will be a beginner's guide to the language. We will learn basic words & conversations & be introduced to the culture. The second meeting of each month will focus on intermediate/advanced conversation & more in-depth cultural topics. Shrek Club

Shrek Club

Welcome to Shrek Club! This is a place for all Shrek enthusiasts to unite. The purpose of Shrek Club is to have an absolutely SHREKTASTIC time hanging out and discussing all things Shrek. This club holds activities such as watching segments of the Shrek movies together, Shrek related trivia, lively discussions, and most importantly having a ton of fun with fellow students! By the end of this club, you will be an expert on all things Shrek!

Spelling Bee Club

Welcome to the Spelling Bee Club! Love to spell? Don't love to spell? This is the place for you! Spelling Bee Club is a fun place for students to improve their spelling skills by learning strategies, playing games, completing challenges and participating in mock spelling bees.

Star Wars Club

Love the Star Wars Universe? Want to find others that love it just as much as you do? This is the club for you! You will explore and discuss anything and everything Star Wars, from old comic strips to the infinite storline. Star Wars Club will cover games, books, comics, the storyline, art, trivia, and much more! We also dicuss current Star Wars universe shows. May the force be with you.

STEM Club K-5

STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Club is an interactive discussion group. We will have vibrant discussions and try super cool experiments. We will focus on topics such as space colonization, asteroids, endangered species, gravity, sound waves, and optical illusions to name a few.

STEM Club MS/HS

Welcome to STEM Club MS/HS, where young people curious about science, technology, engineering and math explore ideas in an informal setting and learn from each other's knowledge and experience. Each month will have a theme and each meeting, student volunteer will pick a topic to present to the group. This usually leads to an interesting discussion where members can share their point of view. Invitations will be extended to guest speakers to be announced.

Storymakers Club

A piece of music can share a story, superheroes can come alive through a comic strip and writing can be loads of fun! Come journey with us as we explore & review books, write, and share. Storymakers will engage students in different genres of writing. Beginning writers are supported as they explore each genre, and more advanced writers are challenged to bring their writing to the next level.

Student Council

Welcome to CMASAS's student council. Here at the council students meet twice a month to discuss social issues important to us and help each other find ways to get directly involved with them. We also work together to make our voices heard in the school and impact it positively.

Theater Club

Are you looking for a club that talks everything Theater? Well then you're in the right place! We'll discuss theater topics ranging from community theater to Broadway. We will also work together to cast and host a prouction of a play that is chosen by the members! We will also be working together to write a play of our own throughout the year. Our focus will be bringing light to theater and all of its amazing factors. Sound fun to you? Then give it a try!

Video Production Club

Welcome to the Video Production Club! High school students (grade 9-12) are welcome to join us as we share our personal productions and learn about important considerations during pre-production, production, and post-production. In addition, there will be opportunities to collaborate with other club members as well throughout the year.

Writing Club

Writer's Workshop

Writer's Workshop is a high school club that welcomes all writers! We'll focus on peer editing and feedback in our meetings. Members can opt to sign up for a time slot during club meetings (10-15 minutes) to share their writing. Work will be read aloud, then members will offer feedback in a group discussion format. If members are not sharing work during the meeting, they are expected to join to offer feedback on others' writing.

Yoga & Meditation Club

Love yoga and meditation? Let's practice together! In this club guided videos will be shown while you practice along with other group members. We will alternate between practicing yoga and meditation techniques. Come prepare to relax and renew!
