Does CMASAS offer live lessons or lectures?

CMASAS is asynchronous. Online classes are not live lectures, but interactive, dynamic lessons that access a variety of modalities to engage the learner. Our unparalleled team of experienced educators embrace the individual learning styles and goals of each student with a flexible Personalized Education Plan (PEP). Our team of Personalized Education Coaches and Course Instructors work together to nurture the whole person in a safe, caring, student-centered environment.

Is CMASAS accredited?

Are there any opportunities for students to socialize in person?

Yes, CMASAS offers regional gatherings throughout the school year, and we have an in-person graduation ceremony for high school students every June in San Diego, California in addition to our international trips.

What is a Personalized Education Coach (PEC)?

Personalized Education Coaches (PECs) are the main point of contact for families and students during their time at CMASAS. PECs are qualified teachers who provide guidance and support on academic progress. They partner with families and Course Instructors to ensure that students are well supported throughout their education journey. To help every student achieve their goals, PECs establish a Personalized Education Plan (PEP) for each student in collaboration with both the parent and student. They also lead optional weekly online homerooms that create a fun opportunity for students to meet and interact with their CMASAS peers.

What is a Course Instructor (CI)?

Course Instructors (CIs) are teachers who are highly qualified in their subject areas and provide support to students working through their courses. CIs provide thorough feedback to students through the grading of assignments within our learning management system. Course Instructors also coordinate with PECs (Personalized Education Coaches) to support students’ learning preferences and interests.

How much parent involvement is needed at CMASAS?

The CMASAS academic concept requires the active participation and supervision of a parent or other responsible adult for optimum achievement. Parent involvement is especially critical in the elementary program because the parent takes on the role of day-to-day instructor to the student while the PEC/CI provides the academic support as needed for both parent and student.

How does mastery-based education work?

CMASAS requires all students to obtain at least 80% mastery of all course objectives. Learning is mastery-based. Personalication allows students to take extra time to master difficult concepts and move more quickly through material they already know, eliminating arbitrary limitations on student progress.

Can students graduate early?

Absolutely! Our self-paced program allows students to complete the courses needed to graduate.

How does a self-paced program benefit my student?

Courses are delivered in an asynchronous format so students can work at their own pace, on their own time schedule. Our model offers students the ability to accelerate or decelerate time to complete each course, without worrying about assignment or course deadlines.

Do students take state standardized tests?

CMASAS does not require state standardized tests. Families will need to find a testing location in the state they reside in if their state requires testing.

Does CMASAS offer AP and Honors courses?

Yes, a variety of AP and Honors courses are available and can be viewed in the course catalogs.

Does CMASAS offer NCAA approved courses?

CMASAS has many courses approved and accepted by the NCAA Eligibility Center for student athletes wishing to be eligible for and participate in collegiate sports.

What clubs and ongoing social opportunities does CMASAS offer?

Clubs at CMASAS are a great way for students to connect with other students who share similar interests. For a complete list of clubs currently offered, please visit the Student Clubs page. Additionally, students have opportunities to socialize in weekly homerooms led by their PEC and in our staff monitored school chats via Microsoft Teams.

Does CMASAS offer scholarships or financial aid?

Scholarships and financial aid are not offered. Opportunities for discounts can be found through our family, military and friends, saver plan.

How do I request an official transcript?

Official CMASAS transcripts can be requested online through Parchment.

How is a private online school like CMASAS different than homeschool?

When choosing an online learning program, it’s important to select one that offers a personalized approach. Many traditional homeschool programs rely on textbooks and memorization, a model of education that many students struggle with. At CMASAS, we adapt our curriculum to each individual student and their unique style of learning. Because CMASAS is an accredited private online school, your child will have the core curriculum and transcripts needed to satisfy state guidelines and college admissions requirements. In addition, CMASAS offers NCAA-approved courses for student-athletes, credentialed instructors who work directly with your child and give personalized feedback on assignments, flexible print based and online curriculum options for grades K-5, and rigorous, college prep curriculum and dual enrollment courses to prepare students for success in college and life beyond high school.
