Graduation Requirements
CMA School of Arts and Sciences is an accredited registered private school in the state of Oregon. All graduates are required to meet the graduation requirements and standards set forth by our accreditation through WASC. All students must be full‐time at time of graduation and have been on a full-time enrollment/tuition plan at least one semester leading up to his/her graduation date.
WASC Policies and Procedures outline certain requirements that all institutions must meet in order to be in compliance and maintain accreditation. One of these assurances requires that all students graduating from member schools complete at least 25% of the courses required for graduation at the institution. Thus, students are required to complete a minimum of 5 credits through CMASAS in order to be eligible for a high school diploma through CMASAS.
While we understand that not all students have the same path and that there are valid reasons for transferring to a school with less then 5 credits remaining for graduation, we must adhere to the policies set forth by WASC to maintain our accreditation.
We recognize that while many will pursue a college education, others may forego the college experience to pursue and fulfill their life's dream whether that be theater, pro sports, musical performance or other ambitions. CMASAS provides multiple paths for individual goals!
Our Graduation Requirements have been designed to meet and exceed Oregon State Department of Education requirements so that students receive a rigorous college‐prep, yet balanced education while maintaining the flexibility to meet individual student goals for life after graduation.
- Standard: a student meeting CMA School of Arts and Sciences' graduation requirements will earn a high school diploma. This option may not meet the minimum college entrance requirements but fulfills the minimum credit and course requirement from CMASAS. Students may still meet minimum college entrance requirements if the correct courses are taken to receive the Standard Diploma, but must work closely with the School Counselor to be sure they meet college entrance requirements if choosing this diploma.
- College Prep: students planning on attending a four-year college or university need to review each potential university's entrance requirements and to carefully select a course of study to meet those requirements. Overall, however, this diploma path should allow the majority of students to meet most four-year college/university's minimum entrance requirements.
