FINDING YOUR PLACE - GET ENGAGED, BE A LEADER, BUILD COMMUNITY

Positive and productive environments are built from these three words: engagement, leadership, and community. One might ask how these three words are related. Effective leadership can foster engagement and build a strong community, while an engaged community can produce effective leaders. Together they can create a positive and supportive space that allows both individuals and groups to thrive and achieve their goals.

Engagement, leadership, and community play crucial roles in supporting an online school by contributing to its effectiveness, student success and overall well-being. These are all foundational elements that help students overcome some of the unique challenges of an online education, such as isolation, motivation, and accountability. When these components are integrated, they create an environment where students are motivated to learn, develop leadership skills, and feel a sense of belonging and responsibility. This in turn, helps foster well-rounded individuals who are academically successful and prepared to contribute positively to their communities.

At CMASAS our goal is to ensure that our school community remains vibrant and provides an inclusive space where students thrive, teachers excel, and parents feel connected in their child’s education.

Here are a few ways to become engaged (and a leader!) in our school community:

      • attend a student club (we have 41 to choose from)

      • attend your weekly homeroom meetings

      • attend a regional gathering (in person or remotely)

      • participate in our online school chat groups

(you don’t want to miss the QOTW - question of the week)

      • attend a student council sponsored event (movie night, talent show, etc.)

      • attend our live graduation (you don’t have to be a graduate to come)

      • moderate or create a student club

      • run for student office

      • attend an all-school assembly (the first one of the school year is on 9/27)

We invite all of our CMASAS students to the challenge of connecting with their peers and saying "yes" to the many leadership opportunities we have to offer. We hope you find CMASAS as a special place, where you feel supported to reach your goals and thrive.
