Like many homeschooling parents, I reached a crossroads.

I loved the flexibility and individualized learning that homeschooling provided, but I wanted more than just checking boxes and passing tests. My goal was never for my children to memorize information long enough to score well on an exam and then forget it a few weeks later. I wanted them to develop a deep understanding of what they were learning and build a strong academic foundation that would prepare them for college and beyond.

As my children got older, I began to realize that finding the right balance wouldn't be easy.

My son has his sights set on attending a Service Academy after high school. In addition to strong academics, he needs leadership experience, club participation, community service, and involvement in organizations like National Honor Society. My daughter learns very differently than her brother and thrives with visual learning tools, videos, and graphics that help concepts come to life.

I felt like I was searching for a unicorn.

I wanted to continue homeschooling while providing rigorous academics, opportunities for leadership, access to clubs, college preparation, and personalized learning styles. I even explored starting my own National Honor Society chapter—trust me, I tried! The more I searched, the more impossible it seemed.

Then I found CMASAS.

For the first time, I found a school that checked every box on my list—and several I hadn't even considered.

One of the biggest advantages has been the ability to personalize each student's learning experience. My daughter is highly visual and gains understanding through videos, graphs, and interactive resources. My son, on the other hand, is very analytical and straightforward. Too many visuals can actually distract him from the material. CMASAS allows each of them to learn in the way that works best for them, which has made a tremendous difference in both their confidence and academic success.

Another unexpected benefit has been the independence they have developed. CMASAS encourages students to take ownership of their education by creating and managing their own schedules. Over time, I've watched my children become responsible young adults who understand how to prioritize their work, manage their time, and stay accountable for their goals. Those are life skills that will serve them well long after graduation.

The access to dual enrollment opportunities has also been invaluable. If a student is ready for college-level coursework, they shouldn't have to jump through endless hoops to get there. CMASAS makes it possible for motivated students to challenge themselves academically and begin earning college credits while still in high school.

Perhaps my favorite part of the entire experience has been the Personalized Education Coach (PEC).

Growing up, I remember waiting days—sometimes weeks—to speak with a high school counselor. Most of the time, I felt like just another number. The difference at CMASAS has been remarkable. My children have a dedicated person who knows them, understands their goals, and genuinely cares about their success and well-being.

Their PEC has been a guide, advocate, and source of encouragement throughout their educational journey.

That level of personalized support is something I never expected to find in an online school, and it has made all the difference.

Looking back, finding CMASAS felt like finding that elusive unicorn I had been searching for. It allowed us to maintain the values that made homeschooling so important to our family while providing the structure, opportunities, support, and academic rigor needed to prepare our children for their futures.

For our family, it has been the best of both worlds—and I couldn't be more grateful.
