BUILDING CONNECTIONS: WELCOME A NEW SCHOOL YEAR AT CMASAS
What makes a school year memorable? Is it the classes we take, the goals we accomplish, or the people we meet along the way? At Christa McAuliffe Academy School of Arts and Sciences (CMASAS), we believe it’s all three.
A new school year is a chance to start fresh, set new goals, explore new interests, and make new connections. Whether you are returning to CMASAS or joining our community for the first time, we are excited to welcome you!
At CMASAS, we know that a successful school experience is about more than academics. Feeling connected to your school community can make a meaningful difference in a student’s experience, particularly in an online learning environment. That’s why we encourage students and families to take advantage of the many opportunities to connect throughout the year.
FIND YOUR COMMUNITY THROUGH CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES
One of the easiest ways to get connected at CMASAS is through our clubs and activities. With a variety of opportunities available throughout the year, students can explore their interests while getting to know other members of our school community.
Our clubs give students a chance to connect with peers who share similar interests while also trying something new. For example, students can participate in Art Club, Disney Club, Study Power Hour Club, and many other clubs offered throughout the year. Some clubs focus on a specific interest, while others provide opportunities to play games, have conversations, learn new skills, or simply spend time together.
Joining a club is easy! Students can look through the current club offerings and request to join through their Personalized Education Coach (PEC) for the clubs that interest them. Once you join, you'll receive information about meeting times and how to participate. You don't need to have any previous experience or know anyone in the club—just come ready to participate and get to know your fellow CMASAS students.
Clubs aren't the only way to get involved, either. Student Council hosts monthly events throughout the school year, giving students another opportunity to meet their peers and participate in fun activities. We also offer regional gatherings where CMASAS students and families can meet in person, as well as international trips that allow students to experience new places and cultures together.
Not sure where to start? Try something that interests you! You don't have to do everything at once. Sometimes, the best friendships and experiences begin by simply showing up and giving something new a try.
CONNECTION STARTS WITH FAMILIES
Student connections are an important part of school life, but so are the connections between schools and families.
At CMASAS, we believe families are an important part of a student's educational experience. As your K-12 Leads (Cierra Tredway & Daisy Cheatham), we want students and families to know that we're here to support you, answer questions, and create opportunities to connect throughout the school year.
One of those opportunities is our Coffee Chat with the Leads. This will be a relaxed opportunity for parents and families to meet with us, ask questions, share ideas, and get to know their School Leads a little better.
We look forward to connecting with our families and continuing to build relationships throughout the school year.
MAKE CONNECTION A PART OF YOUR SCHOOL YEAR
A new school year brings plenty of opportunities to get involved, and you don’t have to do everything at once. Start small. Join a club. Introduce yourself to someone new. Attend a school event. Reach out to your school leads. Join us for Coffee Chat.
The important thing is to take that first step.
At CMASAS, our goal is for every student and family to feel welcomed, supported, and connected. We are excited to begin this new school year with you and look forward to seeing the friendships, discoveries, accomplishments, and experiences that the year will bring.
Welcome to a new school year at CMASAS—we’re so glad you’re here!
