There’s never been a better time to explore online education—let’s continue to bust some myths that might be holding you back from considering an online school for your student. A few days ago, we busted Myth #6 “Online school is just screentime.” You can review it here.

At CMASAS, we’ve spent more than 16 years redefining what personalized, accredited online education can look like – and the results speak for themselves. Over the next few weeks we will help you better understanding the power and flexibility of an online education from our very own CMASAS families, who will debunk these six myths one at a time. We are on Myth #5.

Myth #5: “Online school doesn’t prepare students for the real world.”

Truth: CMASAS students graduate ready for life—personally and professionally.

Students gain real-world skills in time management, self-advocacy, financial literacy, and even civil rights education. Many lead clubs, start businesses, and volunteer in their communities.

“Being able to gain the skills of independence, time management, and self-motivation during my time at CMASAS allowed me to graduate from the University of Alabama a year early and apply and become a doctoral candidate in the Occupational Therapy program at the University of Florida. I felt well prepared.” —Liat Sauberman, CMASAS Class of 2017.

“CMASAS helped me get to where I am today. I not only came out of high school a better student, but a better person. I had the opportunity to find my authentic self and gained valuable habits that I see other college students struggle to find. I was in public school for many years before joining CMASAS, and I found that students see the value of education more when they can set the terms. CMASAS provides the platform that students need to explore their interests, meet their personal goals, and create their own success. CMASAS gave me the opportunity to find myself as a person. I had complete control to navigate my education and take classes that I was interested in.  It was the Forensic Science class I took during my sophomore year with CMASAS that made me realize how much I loved forensics, and it pushed me to major in it in college.” —Gabby Reece, CMASAS Class of 2019 and 2025 Commencement Speaker who graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

“In 2022, my daughter graduated from Georgia State University with honors at the age of 19. How did she manage to stay three years ahead? Our journey began in March 2015 when Michelle left public school behind for good and started attending CMASAS…I am grateful to CMASAS and its wonderful staff of caring teachers who held Michelle’s hand all three years providing her with education, knowledge, support, encouragement, and amazing travel experiences.” —Anna Welch, Mother of Michelle Calvert, CMASAS Class of 2019.

We don’t just educate. We empower.

We believe every student deserves to feel seen, supported, and inspired—and at Christa McAuliffe Academy School of Arts and Sciences (CMASAS), we make that happen through caring relationships and personalized learning.
