What is the Power of Art?
When we’re young, we draw pictures of what brings us joy. A crooked house with our family outside, a rainbow, a streaming sun. It doesn’t matter that brother Tom looks more like a shish kabob poking a marshmallow; what matters is the feeling it gives. The release. We put our joy, or feelings, down on paper, and in doing so, give them permission to exist outside of ourselves.
This same technique is used all over the world with adults to promote physical and psychological healing. Adult coloring books have begun cropping up everywhere, as men and women of all ages discover the power of putting their thoughts or desires on paper.
