Meet the Staff: Registrar Lori Pollard

Hi Lori, tell us a little about your passions outside of work.
Married, 53. 2 grown daughters- one in Oklahoma and one at Pacific University here in Oregon. One world wise dog and 2 cats. My favorite thing to do is read. Sometimes I think Google is my best friend as I have an insatiable quest for knowledge.

What is your role at CMASAS?
Registrar

What drew you to work in education?
Both my daughters have severe ADHD. I ended up homeschooling most of their primary and ms school grades. I learned a lot about education and advocacy for alternative education. CMASAS' mission of reaching.

What would you want someone unfamiliar with CMASAS to know about the school?
That personalized education is a real thing here. We have students from all backgrounds and each student is highly valued. Our personalized education coaches create a course plan for EACH student.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Knowing that I have a part in giving the student a reason to enjoy school and learning.

What inspired you to want to work at an online school that emphasizes personalized education vs a site-specific traditional school?
Personal experience with my own children. Being an advocate for alternative schooling is a natural fit for me.

What is a goal or dream that you are currently working towards?
We have moved 12 times in 24 years. When we returned to Oregon (my husband Steve and I are natives), we decided to not move again. We purchased a home with all 70's colors and styles (avocado color fridge and thick green shag carpet😝) and have been gradually remodeling. It's a never ending project, but keeps us busy. We are also getting off the couch and exploring the lovely hiking trails in Oregon.

What is one piece of advice that you would offer students today?
Technology is great and useful but nothing compares to the beauty of creation. Look up from the screens and experience life in the real.

What is your favorite book? Why?
Too many to list! I was a literature major in college.

How can parents and students contact you?
Call the main office number, ext 11
