Here on the blog, we're starting a series introducing our teachers and staff. These highly trained, accredited, passionate individuals are all who makes CMASAS a truly excellent online school. Today we're pleased to introduce you to Cindy Page.
Hi Mrs. Page! Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I live in Utah, I have 4 kids, and I love spending time with my family playing games, camping, dancing, and watching sports.
Why do you love to teach?
I love the “a ha” moments that students have when they understand a concept.
What courses do you teach at CMASAS?
I teach the middle level math courses, grades 6, 7 and 8.
What inspired you to want to teach at an online school that emphasizes personalized education vs a site-specific traditional school?
I like the flexibility! It helps me to be more family focused.
What are some of your favorite experiences with students at CMASAS?
My favorite experiences are when I am skyping with a student and I am able to relate the math problems to real world situations they are familiar with. Then they have that “a ha” moment and a light bulb turns on. Love it!!
As an online school teacher, what does a typical day look like for you?
My day all begins with getting my kids off to school. Then I teach part time at a brick and mortar school and I get home by 12:00. I then hang out with my daughter (5) who goes to school in the morning. We have "girl" time for a while (play barbies, dolls, sing "Let it Go," have dance parties, and all sorts of girly stuff) until I go pick up the boys from school. I then become a taxi driver and take kids to dance, hockey, basketball, soccer, football, piano, guitar, scouts, and wherever else they need to go. Afterwards, I feed the kids (including my hubby), hang out as a family for a bit, read together, pray together, and then off to bed for the kiddos!
Next, is when I start my job at CMASAS. I really love how this job allows me the flexibility to spend so much time with my family. I can do something else I love, teaching, when they are sound asleep. It doesn't interfere with my family time and I don't have to get a babysitter.
It is amazing to be able to communicate and help people all over the globe. My kids think it sooo cool that I have taught people as far as Singapore.
Then I usually go to the gym or just wind down for the evening. That wraps up a day in the life of Cindy Page.
What is one dream you have for your students’ happiness and health that you enjoy encouraging them in?
Being a life-long learner brings a lot of happiness and helps you become the best you possible!
What is a goal or dream that you are currently working towards?
My husband and I are working together to exercise regularly and become healthier!
