I was born and raised in the Land of Enchantment and moved to Portland, Oregon in 2001. I have adjusted to our beautiful green forests and rain though take regular trips back to my beloved desert. I have 2 kids ages 6 and 9. We love adventure! Our favorite things to do as a family are hiking, camping, and mountain biking or fishing. In the winter months you'll catch us at home reading, playing board games, video games and baking.
Brad Henry said, "A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning." During college I lived abroad and became fluent in Spanish. I was always drawn to working with children. After years of working in non-profits with youth in different capacities, decided in the classroom is where I wanted to be. I got my teaching license in 2006 and taught for 7 years in brick and mortar schools. I was drawn to CMASAS' philosophy and was craving a more student-driven approach, as one of my previous jobs was leading student voice initiatives in a district with 56,000 students. I crossed over to the online world and feel absolutely fortunate to have landed with such a phenomenal school. Finding a school that supports my core educational values and where our philosophies align, allows me to inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning in creative ways. I just completed an administrative licensure program and hope to one day lead an online school community. I remind my students regularly, learning should never end!
