How You See Me
How does the world see you?
When you walk into a room, what do people see? How do they react? How much of their reaction shapes how you see yourself? Young adults begin to shape their identities at a very early age. However, if the identity created is not congruent with the true identity within, young adults can undergo something called a “division of self.”
We all are seen by the world differently. Our names, our skin, our beliefs, our mannerisms- these all shape our identity in the world. However, sometimes what appears to be most obvious about our identity on the outside is actually one of the last labels we’d use to describe ourselves. If you were to take out a piece of paper and write your name in the middle, and then fill that paper with all the words that describe what makes you unique and special, what would it say? How much of what makes you exceptional is invisible at first glance? There are miraculous talents hidden within all of us. What’s yours?
