Dennis Waitley shares some of the daily rituals champions incorporate into their day to ensure each day is one day closer to reaching their goal. Waitley has been a professional trainer for Olympic athletes, astronauts, and prisoners of war for the past forty years. He also wrote “The Psychology of Winning.”
Waitley says the way you start and structure your day is crucial to those trying to adopt a champion’s mindset. In his video “This is What the Daily Rituals of a Champion Look Like,” Waitley reveals what champions do first thing when they awake: things like waking up to music, starting the day with exercise, and eating a good breakfast before planning the key goals they want to accomplish that day. Then, throughout the day, Waitley advises constant check-ins to ensure each action is bringing you closer toward your goal. Finally, he impresses the importance of the growth-- or champion-- mindset: “You need to be saying: ‘I want to’, ‘I can’, ‘Next time I’ll do it right.’ You need to be talking yourself into what you want, not away from what you don’t want.”
Our online high school students know that cultivating daily rituals make them more productive, and more likely to achieve gold-medal status, whatever their dreams. No matter what you’re aiming for, keep it on the positive, and know that every setback is just a challenge waiting to be conquered. As Waitley reminds us: “The Olympian always says: ‘No Problem.’ ‘Can do.’ ‘Next time we’ll get it right.’ ‘Practice makes permanent.’ ”
