Meet Irie

Her family owns a store titled The Bell Jar - and yes, the name is a reference to the late poet Sylvia Plath. Irie's enthusiasm as a young entrepreneur empowers her dreams for making an impact in the fashion industry.

As a student she loves how she can customize her learning goals to match her entrepreneurial dreams: “Although every aspect in (traditional) school does prepare students for their future, they do not prepare them for their jobs in the customized way I have found with Christa McAuliffe Academy School of Arts and Sciences.”

Like Irie, many students may find themselves held back by the traditional school. So, how can online high school help empower entrepreneurial students like Irie?

3 Ways Online High School Empowers the Entrepreneur

1. Passion

We’ve all heard the importance of finding one’s passion in life, but the thing is it’s hard! It takes plenty of time to reflect, the chance to try something new, and the mentorship to keep one afloat after failure.

With a personalized curriculum, students at CMA-SAS steer their academics where they want them to go, allowing them to truly dive in and achieve mastery. Let’s not forget that when a student has intrinsic motivation, he/she will push through the stress of learning far greater than students who may be forced to take classes in a more traditional school.

2. Autonomy and Scheduling

One of the hardest parts of entrepreneurship is the need to create your own schedule. Since there’s no boss, there’s no clocking in and clocking out.

Like entrepreneurs, students in an online high school get to work whenever they want. That means they could work around their life - sort of like a lifestyle business. This also means that students will need to create their own schedule, much like the entrepreneur they wish to become.

3. Mastery and Persistence

At CMA-SAS, students only complete a course after they achieve mastery. That means that there’s no such thing as summer school, no such thing as coasting by, and no such thing as waiting.

Like entrepreneurs, online high school allows students to really truly gain knowledge and achieve mastery. This means a lot of sweat and persistence - the exact qualities that make for a great entrepreneur.

“Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” - Napolean Hill
